Schlegel und Partner presented PFAS study results to over 90 filtration experts at the FILTREX 2025

Under Session 5 GOING PFAS FREE at the Filtrex 2025 Dorothea Slevogt, Senior Consulting Specialist at Schlegel und Partner, presented her PFAS study results. Over 25 challenging and controversial discussions were conducted with experts, market participants and other stakeholders along the value chain in preparation of her presentation “Navigating PFAS restrictions: Roadmap, Industry Impact, and Emerging Solutions for Filtration” shared at the FILTREX 2025, organized by EDANA in Vienna.

The presentation included important insights regarding the pending PFAS restrictions for the filtration industry in the European Union and the possible directions the discussions at ECHA in Brussels will take.

For the filtration industry the fluoropolymers PTFE and PVDF are clearly at the center of attention. The presentation therefore shed some light on the current and future landscape of PTFE and PVDF production and its players and drew a picture of the effect the lurking PFAS ban will have on the effected industries from nonwoven producers to filter producers and industries dependent on highly efficient filtration systems. The presentation anticipated steps and actions that should be and are already taken by some of the industry participants in the coming years.
